Avinash Sable is an Indian track and field athlete who specializes in 3000 metres steeplechase. He holds the national record of 8:11.20, set at the 2022 Commonwealth Games where he won the silver medal. It was the ninth time he had set the national record. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Sable placed seventh in the heats, setting a new national record to 8:18.12. He was the fastest non-qualifier across all heats. Sable set a new national record at the 2020 Delhi Half Marathon, completing the run in less than 61 minutes. Sable finished 35th at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships. He clocked 31:43 over the 10km distance in a field of over 100 athletes. Avinash won the first gold medal for India in the steeplechase and Silver in 5000 metre at the 2022 Asian Games.

- Sable was born in Mandwa, Tq. Ashti, Beed district, Maharashtra, into a family of farmers. From age six, he would run or walk the 6 km (3.7 mi) distance between home and school as there was no transport facility in his village.
- After completing his twelfth grade, Avinash Sable was recruited into the Indian army, and he was part of the 5th Battalion of the Mahar Regiment.
- In 2015, while serving in the Indian Army, Avinash’s colleagues insisted him on participating in the cross-country races, conducted by the Indian Army. Initially, he competed in the athletic events conducted by the Indian Army.
